Georgie’s Corner, Bakery and Café, located in the residential neighborhood of Shadyside is owned and run by residents of the neighborhood.  The building built in the late 1920s, created opportunities to accent an aesthetic of an earlier era, while also challenging us to upgrade to modern features of safety, utility, and accessibility.  The intent of the Build-out was to create a corner community landmark that feels as if it has always stood in this location, providing patrons with a warm, inviting space to gather, dine, work, and create together.

Conceptually this project aimed to create a modern take on a 1920’s era bakery & café, in the heart of the vibrant residential Shadyside neighborhood.  Only four blocks away stands the existing commercial hub of Shadyside with retail and restaurants that attract people from around the city.  The singular goal of the project was to create a corner landmark that attracts patrons of the community with inviting sidewalk seating on two streets as well as an open and welcoming façade showcasing the vibrant interior.
